NYC marathon

Today was the day.
To make a long story short: 5-Nov-2005 + NYC + 26.2miles = 3:45:04.
Not bad for a first time

Best moment of the day: peeing on the Verrazano bridge. Probably the only day in the year where you can do it without being arrested. (no picture, sorry).

:: craftbar dessert menu :::

I went to Craftbar last Friday night.
I already had lunch so dessert was the only option.
I chose the Toasted Almond Parfait with Apricot Soup, with a glass of Coteau du Layon, a super sweet French wine from the Saumur area.
The combination was to die for. And the prices are totally reasonable.

NYC MTA Launches Podcast, Huh?

NYC MTA Launches Podcast, Huh?:

Photo_080806_002.jpgSure, we’ve heard of some pretty whacky podcasts out there, but this one may take the cake. Reader Nick sent us this photo of a promotional poster for TransitTrax, the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority podcast. According to the picture the podcast provides service advisories, MetroCard promos, safety tips, etiquette tips, news and construction updates. What the hell, man? Thanks, Nick

Inside Man: a true New York movie

I just saw the Inside Man.
Great movie:

  • great plot on par with the Usual Suspects
  • great cast
  • great soundtrack

But my favorite aspect of the movie is that this is a movie about New York. It takes place in New York, it was shot in New York and it is about New York. At some point, they need to identify a language played on a tape. Nobody seems to recognize the language. What do they do? They put the tape on speakerphone and ask the crowd outside if they recognize it. Sure enough, someone does.

Thank you Mr Spike Lee and your team.

Pixar expo at the MOMA

I went to the expo this morning. Really great, especially a merry-go-round with stroboscopic effect. Must see.

Check the web site. They have some special screenings. Today it was For the Birds with the director answering questions from the audience.
